David and I are leaving for London insanely early in the morning tomorrow. I will only be there for about a week and a half, after which I must return to New York so that I could gear up to relocate to Toronto for 3 months. David will remain in London until early October, when the London recast rehearsals will complete and the "new" cast goes on stage. At that point, he will join me in Toronto.
It's all a little bit daunting.
The positive side of seeming always to be living out of suitcases these days is that we have, in fact, contrary to my own sense of things, gotten better at packing. This progress, of course, is in no small part due to the fact that we are basically in a constant state of packing/unpacking -- this trains the most inept packer and traveler to learn which items are useful and which items, despite all wishful thinking, one never uses while abroad. And some cities are easier to pack for than others. In London, we know that, should we have forgotten something, we could, if necessary, always buy another (albeit at ridiculous London prices); same goes for, say, Toronto. This knowledge eases up the packing process significantly.
And so we are doing last bits of work, organizing aspects of our lives, and packing again to kick of rehearsal processes. It will be a change from casting (sometimes we forget that all the casting is to come up with a cast to rehearse into an actual production!),
