Holiday Cheer with Christmas Tree

David and I debated a bit this year about whether or not we should put up a Christmas tree. The debate was purely logistical: since we are leaving on the 30th for Amsterdam and had still more unpacking/setting up to with our new apartment, we wondered if a tree just added onto the hassle of it all. In the end, though, we couldn't resist getting a tree. There is a large tree stand on our street a block over, and each time we'd pass it we'd longed for a tree. The other night as we walked home from a dinner with the creative team, we decided to just get one and be done with it. The holiday cheer aspect of the tree won over the logistical efforts it required.

And only in New York could one buy a Christmas tree at midnight.

Buying Christmas trees in New York always reminds me of "When Harry Met Sally." It's not easy to buy a tree by yourself... unless you have a strong husband like me! David swung it over his shoulder and carried it the two blocks to our apartment. While it was easy at first, it was rather heavy... but we made it home safely.

And voila! We have put up some decorations.

Although we still have to finish setting up the house, the tree is a welcome addition. And it smells fabulous!

Happy holiday season!
