Hi All,
Contrary to Tomoko's current assessment of the state of things, we are not THAT desperate and pathetic as to not be enjoying our time in Amsterdam. Of course we will look back on our time here with mixed feelings - but that's to be expected.
This is a wonderfully picturesque city. Day or night wandering (or cycling) through the canals can be breathtaking.
It's just life's little taken for granted conveniences that can make you feel a little home longing from time to time. I'm sure if someone from Amsterdam was to live in New York for a while they would find themselves aching for that little dutch cheese and bread shop they had on the corner of their street (straat or gracht) on Korte Prinsengracht - and so it goes.
